The story behind one of Phnom Penh's fastest-growing fitness communities — and what other club organisers can learn from it.

In September 2025, Iron PP CrossFit had 12 members and one rented space in Toul Tom Poung. Today they have 312 members, two locations, and a waiting list. We sat down with founder Ivan R. to understand how they did it.
'The first thing we did was make every session feel like an event,' Ivan explains. 'We posted recaps every time. Photos, times, who showed up. People who weren't there felt like they missed something — and they'd come back the next week.'
“If you cancel, you break the habit. We've cancelled maybe twice in eight months.”

The community-first approach paid off. Word of mouth drove the first 100 members. Kehla drove the next 200. 'Once we were listed on Kehla, we started getting people who found us through the platform. The booking system meant they actually showed up — no more no-shows.'
The second lesson was consistency over intensity. Iron PP runs six sessions a week, every week, regardless of public holidays. 'People build habits around you. If you cancel, you break the habit. We've cancelled maybe twice in eight months.'
For organisers thinking about growth, Ivan's advice is simple: show up, document everything, and make it easy for people to book. 'The sport almost doesn't matter. The community is the product.'
